I just installed a new Trim-and-Tilt gauge on my boat. I forgot the BRP part number, but it starts with 17xxx, and is the one that fits in a 2.125" cutout in the dash.
It replaces an old one that became non-functioning. It is hooked up to an 2005 E-TEC 90HP.
It seems to work, except that the needle doesn't go past the halfway mark when I tilt it up. It looks to be calibrated correctly for the bottom stop - when I tilt down, the engine hits the bottom stops when the needle on the gauge hits the last mark. However, when I tilt the motor up, the needle rises to almost the halfway point on the gauge, then stops, while the engine continues to tilt up. When I lower the motor, the needle does not move until the engine is tilted about 2/3 full down, then it smoothly moves until the engine hits the bottom stops.
So it looks like a calibration issue to me. I tried cycling the motor to full up, then full down a cuple of times, hoping that it would self-adjust, but no luck.
Is there a separate calibration adjustment on the motor? I don't see any adjustment screws on the gauge itself.
TIA
