Call Me Stupid...Again!!

Bought boat number five yesterday <br /><br />Dont have a manual yet..But its a jetboat with Rotax engines. I would like to know if anyone knows of aftermarket(name brand) oil that is "low ash" (as was TCWII oil) not TCWIII which is "ashless".<br /><br />I would rather not buy oil at the dealer.

The lowest ash TCW-3 oil that isn't premium is WalMart's Supertech brand, but I'm confused. Why not TCW-3?

I'm with 12Footer on this one. TCWIII does everything TCWII did, only better. Is it chock full o' ash?

Rotax is very specific "Do not use ASHLESS oils like NMMA approved TCW3".<br /><br />So far Iv found out that when you use "ashless" for "low ash" you loose some lubrcity, however with "ashless" you lose most of the carbon build up in the combustion chamber. Why Rotax is "Specific" on their oil...I dont know YET!

To me Rotax is a motorcycle engine manufacturer. Therefore i think you might find the oil at a motorcycle shop ie two stroke motocross shop, if there is one in the neigbourhood. <br />Just a thought.<br /><br />/Bear

wow gents....<br /><br />We're swamped with that oil up here. Ski-doo, chainsaw and lawnmower oil is low ash. The reason for the low ash in a rotax is because of the higher operating temperatures. Low ash oil is cheap cheap cheap.....Every oil manufacturer around here makes it....<br /><br />Good luck!
