Hopefully this is an easy one for you guys. 7.4 Mercruiser..removed stock alternator (a few wires going to it )..replaced with a new one wire alternator. I'm running a new wire from "hot post" on alternator to the positive on the battery. Question is...what wires do I hook together from that harness, or connect somewhere else so that my voltage gauge works ? I wanna be able to visually see that its charging. Thanks guys.

It should already be hooked up to your ignition switch. That's all you need.

So the extra wires that were on the old alternator...I just tape them off ? They are not needed at all ?

That's all there is to it. The extra wires controled the regulator, your new alt is done internally.
