Another wrinkle to the water levels on the river....many of us have driven the area around Bouse that was flooded...

We had some wicked weather west of Vegas Thurs night, Rained harder than i've seen in years..

Have fun and be safe. We are going out 1 more time this year. No plan as to when yet.

Lake Mohave launch ramps are being closed October 29 through Nov 7.

Lake Mead water temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit today! The temp was measured at Sentinal Island (far right).

My daughter asked if we could go "fishing" this weekend so we could use all the new stuff. Confused and with my wife giving me that "what did you buy now" look, I asked, what new "fishing" stuff...

You know dad, the new beach towels and inflatable toys you bought us.

It was really nice last Sunday when I went out....Went up in the wash but it wasn"t happening so ran over to Swallow cove and caught and released about 12 stripers up to 21 inches....I really hated to go back to Cali..

I just may test out that 76* water this weekend...

Thanks NW, but I can't take credit for some of them. I get updates from the NPS LMNRA with photos and info, and that's where this last one came from but will keep 'em coming!

Grapevine Canyon is located about 7 miles west of Laughlin.

In case anyone is interested:

Getting to the Trailhead

From Las Vegas, drive south towards Laughlin. From the intersection of Highway 93 and 95, drive south on Highway 95, past Searchlight and Cal-Nev-Ari, for 54 miles to Highway 163 (Table 1, Site 0826). Turn left onto Highway 163 towards Laughlin and drive east for 12.8 miles to Christmas Tree Pass Road (Site 0823). Watch for a small sign indicating a left turn. This point is 6.7 miles before the bridge in Laughlin.

On Christmas Tree Pass Road, drive north on the well-graded dirt road for 1.8 miles to a T-intersection with the Grapevine Canyon access road (Site 0824). Turn left (west) and drive west for about 0.15 miles to the parking area at the end of the road (Site 0825). Park here; this is the trailhead.

The Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail will be closed at tunnel 2 to Hoover Dam for repairs, Oct. 24-26. The trailhead parking lot will be closed October 25-26 for resurfacing.
