hey guys, i have a 1996 four winns freedom 170 with a OMC throttle that i am trying to remove so i can revinyl the side panels .. only problem i am having is removing the handle.. I got the 4 screws and the single screw directly across from the other four for a total of 5 removed .. and now what ? the black rubber cover for the center button is falling off and there is a small screw behind there and i also removed that one and still nothing .. and futher inspection reviled 2 small screws behide the handle facing the vinyl
.. those are too close to the panel to stick anything in there to remove them .. so any ideas guys or is there any diagrams i can get ... thanks for all the help guys .

Been awhile but there is a hex set screw looking from the bottom. You may have to have the control in reverse or forward to access it.

Yes, push in the neutral button is and pull the handle into the "reverse" position. Now, on the forward side (the left side as you view it) is a litle window and you should be able to install a 1/8th " allen/hex head" wrench and loosen up the set screw to allow pulling the handle off.

Once you get the handle off, the plastic escution behind the handle, the part that has horizontal lines on, it pops out and then you can get to the screws.
