Just wondering if you have any pics of your elephant trunk drains on your boat. Do you just keep the drain pulled up most of the time and then release it when it's needed? These things are hard to find and there isn't much infomation on them that I can find. I do like the idea though.

Thanks!

I leave them down all the time while moving and pull them up when we stop. Very easy to make-take a trip over to ribnet and search 'trunk' and you'll find info on how to make your own. The lines are secured to a clamcleat on the inside of the transom.

There's some pics of Avon trunks removed from the boat here:-

Make sure you've got nothing loose on the floor with them down-it'll go out through them if it'll fit. I lost a can of coke through mine once...

Thanks for the reply Nos4r2.

I was thinking about installing one or two to speed things up a bit. I have a bilge pump, but it still takes a while if you end up with more than an inch or two on water on the deck.

Do it. I've stuffed my rib on a couple of occasions so water is slopping over the transom and with both trunks down and the throttle wide I can empty the whole boat in a few seconds.
They're one of those things that once you've used them, you'll wonder how you managed without them.

I have them on my Zodiac FC 470 and they are great if you take on water pretty frequently. They also make washing the boat down real easy after we take it out of the ocean. I just hose it down and lift the tongue of the trailer over my head and all the water drains out to the street.

Our Ocean Rescue folks have these on there Zodiac. I remember them on the "Hurricane" when I was in the USCG. Needed them on more then one occasion. Glad to have had them. It's like opening a flood gate.
