re: Your add-on question in the other thread.

You don't have cavitation, it is probably ventilation, but could be a spun prop hub.

If your Whaler 13 Sport is a blue liner, pre-'73 model, it needs a short shaft (15") engine.

Later 13s had a 20" transom and need a 20" (long) shaft engine.

Where is the anti-ventilation plate relative to the bottom? It should be even to 1" above the keel.

Give us more info, please. :)

Not a real Boston Whaler, huh, Selles? Then I don't know anything about your boat.

What does "over 4-5 inches of the hull" mean?

If you have a short shaft engine on a 20" transom you are going to get a lot of ventilation. If it's a cheap boat you can cut the transom down to 15", but I wouldn't do that to a quality boat. You can also install extensions to make it a long shaft engine.

If you have an extra long (25") engine on a 20" transom you need to modify the engine to a long shaft or get another engine.

A jack plate is an option in either case, to rig the engine to the proper height.

Good luck. :)

Re: Calling Selles

I think we have a bit of a language barrier, here, Selles. My apologies.

The AV plate should be even with the bottom or maybe 1" up.

Good luck. :)

Re: Calling Selles

It appears that Selles' engine's cavitation plate is 4-5 inches above the bottom of his boat.

That makes sense if he has a short shaft engine on a 20" transom, as noted in the previous posts.

His problem is obvious without a language translation being needed.

Unfortuntely I'm not a pro Spanish interpretor either. For what Selles can make of it, here's a rough translation:

Contra la placa de la ventilación, sobre el propulsor, se supone para ser llana con el punto más bajo de su fondo (quilla). Si sea paralelo también. La placa no debe ser más de 25 milímetros más alta que la quilla.

JB, Selles, I’ve been lucky to stay out of the cyberworld for several days… ;) Sorry for the late reply than. I’m fluent in Spanish, so let me know if you need any assistance, I’ll gladly help you out (on weekdays).
Selles, si todavia el asunto no le queda claro, no dude de preguntar.
