Can a 4 stroke motor be laid on its side for transportation?

Im looking to buy a small 2.5 hp motor and want to make sure that a 4 stroke motor can be layed on its side for easy trasportation?

sure, just drain the oil first.

It depends on the make and model, fireguy. The Owner's Manual will tell you.

My Honda 10hp can be laid on one side. It can't be laid on the other side. Little pictures on the motor show how it can be laid down.

Now it's locked to the back of my boat.

My buddie has a new 3.5 merc 4stroke and lays it down every time he uses it. I believe it's teh same as the tohatsu/nissan.
