We were cruising a shallow lake the summer and hit a log. I sheered the vertical shaft on my AQ275 which i have replaced. When I started up the boat I noticed a slight bend in the prop shaft. Is it possible to have this shaft straightened out? Also isn't there a way to prevent this from happening in the future? Why wouldn't the out drive kick up when it hits something? Or was this just a freak incident? It seems like a poor design. You would think there would be a shear pin to prevent costly repairs. Please help.
Thanks,
Dave

Ayuh,.... At a Machine Shop, with a hyd. press,.. Ya it can be straightened...

As for preventing it from happening again,...
Don't hit things with it...
