Once a cylinder is bored oversize to correct damage (scoring and the like).....can that engine be "re-built" again?

With older engines that come up for sale it's hard to know if they've ever been bored out...but the odds would be that in many cases they have....so; if one buys an engine like that...and finds in the future that another over bore is necessary...is that possible?

I suppose that it depends on the build of the particular block and the availability of varying sizes of pistons and rings...but I'm asking the question in more general terms.

Does the typical outboard have only one chance for a rebuild...and then that block is doomed to the scrap heap?

I guess it's a tough question to answer in that it's so general...but lets see what the experienced machinists among us have to say.

As always...thanks for reading.

If the original time the engine is rebored it was not bore to maximin it is possibale to bore again, on some they may be resleeved back to std. with time and money most anything can be fixed

I dont think you can put a sleave in a 2 stroke can you. The ports would be affected.

It's a common fix and wisco even makes sleeves that have the ports in them, when doing a stock racing engine it give a excuse to correct port timing
