Rusty,<br /> Use the ohm meter to find the resistance of the solenoid. Once you know the resistance of the solenoid then you can determine the amount of current that it will draw. Just like eurolarva determined his current by dividing the resistance .6 ohms into the battery voltage of 12volts gave him 20 amps, you can do the same when you know both the voltage and the resistance.It sounds like eurolarva's numbers are a lot closer to what you should be getting than yours. Imho your battery should NOT be going to 8 volts.<br /> Eurolarva, if you will, measure the resistance of your solenoid and we will compare it with Rustyl's. It seems that we either have the wrong solenoid or a wiring problem. I don't believe that there is enough of a mechanical problem on this small solenoid to drop the battery from 12 to 8 volts. Does the wiring diagram show the resistance of the solenoid?
