I bought this motor to put on small John boat. it's a twin cylinder supposed to be 6 or7.5 hp, there's a lable glued to the inside of the cover that has starting instructions for 6 or 7.5 hp motors.

It was built by Scott-McCulloch, probably for one of their contracted clients. Not much to go by, but I'm guessing Western Auto Wizard by the color of the knobs. 1960-64.

It's rare that the plastic cover isn't shattered, as most of them are.

Also Sears Ted Williams. Some were badged as Elgins and Scotts as well. I kept one (a McCulloch) stowed aboard as a get-me-home motor for a year or so. I remember them as smooth little motors, and really compact.

thank you so much for the help. I'm going to need points and condensers to get it going so this should help a lot. So the 1999 is a model number?

I'd rather say that is the serial number. If we had the model number we could better identify it.

Well the motor was not built in 1999 that is for sure.----I think there are better projects available if you look for them.

Thank you for your help. 1999 is the only legible part of the tag, I can't find any other identifiable information. Mostly I guess I need to get it running and sell it. I greatly appreciate all the help.

Not wanting to insult, but $20 tops, as is. And that's for the hood.

Thank you for your time and help, I'll probably put a little time in to see if it will run. If not I'll sell to scrap yard. I live on tn. River and there's always a market for cheep motors
