It's around 14' and the PO says it's a "metal Jon Boat". Anyone see a jon boat with a pointy front like that? It does have a flat bottom but notice the external stringers..

Also the motor comes with it if you guys know anything about it. Is it a four stroke? good or bad 7.5 horse?

know nothing abt the boat. with flat bottom like that, it will sorta have stability of jon but will likely ride really hard. motor is fine, similar to every Honda Twin ever made. 4 stroke like all Honda OBs. great fuel economy

I'd guess it's a 50's vintage. The style is an angler, utility, or fisherman. Just a simple fishing boat. Looked on Fiberglassics library

Classic Boat Library

Saw some similar but nothing exact. Starcraft shows keels like that on their old small tinny's. Good for river fishing or rocky shore lakes.

I'm not familiar with Honda's.

Are you sure its a Starcraft? The bow looks like an Aerocraft to me, the way the flat bottom continues to the bow. AeroCraft Boats has lots of pics and info on them

Sort of looks like a drift boat. Don't think Starcraft ever made any, but I'm not an expert.

Is that a hole in the hull just below the bow roller?

Nope no holes. Guy wants 500 for the combo. I think I'm gonna go for it. It's built like a tank. I could use something like this for the walleye run in the Maumee.

I have no clue what the maker is. I don't thinks it SC because it's only about 4' wide.

Re: Can anyone tell me what I am looking at?

I have noticed that the term "jon boat" is misused or has morphed to mean any small open boat. It used to be when I saw a jon boat it had a flat nose and flat bottom and was almost always green. I'm sure the color just happened. Today a small boat with a pointed bow, either flat or slightly curved bottom and very often with oar locks is called a jon boat as well. I call that a utility or row boat.

I think all Honda's are 4 strokes. Don't believe they ever made 2 strokes. Look on the side of the block to see if it has an oil fill or dip stick.

I guess the important thing is - Does the motor turn and does it run? A running motor and trailer, mmmmm. Never pay asking price with out hitting him with a lower offer.

Now about the B & W pics - Perfect. I think the boat was made before the intro of color film. :) I bet she's an oldie but a goody.
