Hi, I have a Yamaha f90 2016. The gauge up in the dash is a 6Y5T multifunction. The problem is the trim indicator on the gauge goes from full down to full up before the motor is even half way up. I have had it a couple of years and until now it always read full up regardless of motor position. I assumed the trim sender on motor wasn't working. I started looking at it today and discovered it was simply the stop tab for the trim sensor lever was not in the right position. I moved that to where I think it should be, but now have the above problem. I didn't get a user manual with gauge and can't find one online.

need to make sure the gauge is set to see the proper trim sender.
I have no idea what that 2016 f90 has, but there were 2 wire and 3 wire units on 2 stroke and 4 stroke Yamahas on different years

From what I can see, there are 2 wires leaving the trin sender. Pink one and black one.

When you mention full up are you talking about the motor going up as high as it will go? If so, that is in the tilt range. Not the same as the trim range.

The trim range is fully down and then up only to the point just below where the speed of the up tilt begins to increase.

With the motor fully trimmed down the trim sender is set so that the trim gauge needle is fully down.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that before the motor is even halfway up thru the manual trim range, the gauge is reading full up. On the gauge the difference between full down and full up is only inches on the motor. the sender arm seems to have full range of motion. Could the sender just need replacing I wonder?
