CAN HEAD GASKET BE REPLACED WITHOUT REMOVING ENTIRE ENGINE FROM HOUSING (15 HP)

Several years ago I pulled the entire motor to change the pistons due to scoring. This time I just want to change the head gasket but before I begin I was hoping someone had done this without removing the entire engine from the housing. I take pictures whenever I do a job and when I checked my pix from that original repair, I came across this picture which seems to indicate that the head and/or gasket can be replaced without removing the entire powerhead.
