can I adjust the steering?

I have a 1988 50hp Johnson that will drift to starboard if I let go of the wheel (to light my pipe!). Is there a way to "tighten the steering" a little bit so this won't happen anymore?

Nope. See? Another reason to quit smoking.<br /><br />Seriously, you can adjust it with the little tab right above the prop. If the motor pulls to the right -- move the tab to the right.<br /><br />Good luck!

Quit smoking? No way! I enjoy my pipe too much! <br />Thanks for the advise but I'm wondering if that will fix my problem even at slow speed while trolling?

At slow speed it may not have the effect your looking for but it cant hurt. With a right hand prop your steering wheel will just naturally want to creep right.
