Re: Can I change the cylinder sleave
I am in the process of rebuilding the powerhead and converting '68, 6HP, short shaft, to a long shaft. I needed to replace one piston and rod and was appauled at the price of about $65.00 for the rod alone. I went to pick up all the parts I ordered last week and I almost fell over when the dealer told me Bombardier had almost doubled the price on the rod, from the last pricing. The solo rod was now $118.50.

The piston was $45.95. Thank goodness I only needed one of each. <br />I bought the engine , "sight unseen" (for less than $60.00), just for housing parts, etc., not the power head, as I have a long and all fresh lower unit and complete upper. Buttttt.......the the engine I bought, less the lower unit, has probably 30 or 40 hours or even less on it, since new. It had a stuck piston, which I was able to dislodge and hone the cylinders, which came out perfect. Some times you can make out real well. You might try iboats for a piston and then NAPA auto parts, second, for what you need. As a last resort, I would go to a Johnyrude dealer for what you need, considering their unreal price hikes, Good luck. ...Bob in Calif...
