please help,
I have a 1967 100 hp evinrude starlite that is long shaft on a 15" transom boat. I also have a parts motor 1964 90hp johnson meteor short shaft . both have electric shift. can i put the drive shaft from the jhonson into the evinrude aswell as the lower unit or should i remove the extention from the rude and use just the drive shaft bar? the johnson is not repairable...

I think I would start by studying the parts lists in order to determine which parts are interchangeable.
If the gear boxes are different you will probably want to retain the original, remove the extension and use the shorter drive shaft if it fits.

snoww, surely yuo know that the 90 and 100 have totally different lower units. If you are asking if you can put the whole thing from the 90 on the 100, you probably can, though I've never done it. But be prepared to lose a lot of power and performance.

There never was a true short shaft 100 in those days. There was one they called a short shaft but it was more like short-and-a-half.

myself, I'd sooner convert the boat from short to long shaft, with a bracket or jack plate.

I guess I am surprized that there is a 15" transom boat made for 100HP. Is it some sort of special racing hull?
