Trying to help out my future nephew in law(next week that is) he brought me a 1988 Force 85 hp on bayliner boat. They said it was doing ok then next trip out is started acting up, then would not start. Compression is good,,had fouled plug on #3 so I cleaned all plugs,,now i have no spark on #1 cyl. Swapped coils and no difference,,also switched plugs to be sure. What I did was swap leads from trigger colis on the terminal block and put #2 where #1 is and vice versa and the problem stayed on #1 cyl. Did ohms test on stator and triggers as per cdi instructions, and they checked out ok. un hooked both kill wires and still no spark. I am convinced that we have a bad power pak. My question is,,seeing as how this is a 3 cyl,and half of the second powerpak is unused,,could I swap wires from the #1 bank on 1st powerpak and tie into other half of 2nd powerpak to pickup my spark. If so,what would be the best way to do it,,any downfalls to doing this. It would take a little studying of schematic, but seems like it can be done.
