My marina hauled my boat for the winter to the only part of the yard that has no access to running water. Problem is that I didnt finish winterizing my 130 Yammy. Can I fog my engine without it running? Will taking out the plugs and shooting some fogging oil in be sufficient? Or should I harrass the owners of my marina to temporarily haul it to a part of the yard that has running water to run the engine?

patrolcar,

If you can, run it.

If not, doing what you suggest is your only alternative. It is certainly better than nothing and will most likely be just fine.

Make sure the fuel is treated and some treated fuel pumped into the carbs. too.

I just learned that my this is the preferred method to fog on my outboard as opposed to spraying it in the carbs. Regardless, this is what I did every year anyway. If it was me, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Throw some stabilizer in the gas tank, sidconnect the fuel feed to the motor and squeeze the primer bulb 'till you see the change in color indicating the treated gas is through. Drain your carbs and then squeeze the primer again to refill them with treated gas. I would then fog the cylinders, replug them and turn the engine over for several seconds to draw some gas into the intake manifold. Once again, fog the cylinders, crank for a couple of seconds and re-plug them hand tight. Just as good as if you had running water.

No problem with removing plugs and spraying fogging oil in.Make sure you spray plenty and crank the motor a bit or turn with a wrench so the pistons move and get full coverage.Charlie

I done exactly what majbach suggests for years. Works for me.
