Can I pull the tan wire that goes to the temp switch and run my engine normally?

My cooling system is working fine. i think the switch might be borked and need to test. So, if I go launch, can I run the motor with the wire disconnected?

1990 50 hp Johnson....if you want more background see my other posts. Need to test this the most effective way before I head to the cottage next weekend.

Sure, but make sure it's not overheating.

So disconnecting the switch will let it go full throttle?

I'm thinking that this is a sure fire way to test if it's my temp switch forcing my engine into SLOW in error.

The shop says my cooling system is running right. Checked thermostat, etc.

Sorry, forgot about SLOW. Switch may need to be replaced 1st.

disconnect should not put it into slow, it goes to slow when the temp switch grounds the wire, completing the circuit.
