Can i make it seaworthy again.

Hello all, I am the owner of a 23ft formula center console. The boat is a 1974 she has a lot of years on her but the hull is amazing the boat rides like no other boat i have ever been in that size. Recently i have noticed some water leaking around my outdrive, and my mechanic says i have some rot in the transom. There is also a slight soft spot in a small part of the floor. What i am wondering is what will it take to make this boat bullet proof again? I run offshore and i love the boat because it handles the conditions so well i am just wondering can i make it bullet proof again and what do i have to do so i can trust that it is sound.

like most of the good old ladies, she needs a few nips & tucks. it's time for a rebuild. she's 31 years old. rebuild transom, rework floor and stringers, while you have the engine and outdrive off, go thru them, and recondition. if the boat is as good as you say it is, it's worth the money to do it. you are talking big buck to replace it, and trying to sell or trade it you will get very little for it. shes given a lot of years of good service, give her a little TLC, ( a butt ,face, and breast lift). it's like trading the wife for a newer model, you could get a lot worse.
