Re: can i pick your brains please

i havent tried to hook up the hose to the pump directly

There are several ways to do the conversion. At this point I am not sure which you followed. I do know that the fuel pumps with 3 barbs, in out and pulse, need a pulse line connected to the pulse barb. Connecting it to the tank won't work.

In the morning I will go back to your OP and carefully read the page to which you linked.

What did you use to block the air port? The cut off vacuum cap or the more destructive JB weld version? When you tap and use a pulse barb, I don't think either of the ports needs to be plugged. You just you cap the old vacuum line.

Gas from the tank to the carb should be pumped up with a single line from the vented tank using a standard one way flow pump bulb. Once the carb bowl is full the pulse fuel pump should maintain the full bowl. If you are trying to use the old pressure tank I guess the air line needs to be capped.
