Re: Can I put Stabil in my gallon of oil?
There's no reason you couldn't do it.
If you're going to use the same amount of oil to gas ratio for your 2 strokes........ Just pre-measure the amount of oil you'll use and pour in the Stabil in the correct amount.
Then you know that if you're mixing up a 50:1 mixture, you'll use 1/2 gallon of oil (plus whatever Stabil should go in 25 gal) + 25 gallons of gas, (1 qt of oil+ stabil for 12.5 gallons of gas etc.......) Just make sure that you mix for the same number of gallons every time....... I.E. 1 gallon of oil (prior to putting in the correct amount of Stabil for 50 gallons) would need to be dumped into 50 gallons of gas.
Understand that after you put the Stabil in you'll have more than 1 gallon of oil/Stabil mix
(to treat 50 gallons of gas, Stabil indicates that you would use 1.2oz/gal of their Marine "formula" ("12 8oz containers treats up to 80 gallons") 12x8=96.......
(96oz per 80 gal= 1,2oz/gallon)........
so for 50 gallons, 50 x 1.2= 60 oz of Stabil. since there's 128 oz in a gallon
60oz====> 60/128= 0.46875 gallons
Or about a 1/2 gallon!
SO, you would have about 1.5 gallons of oil/Stabil mix to make up 50:1 gas pretreated with Stabil.
Take half of that (3/4 gal of "mix") to do 25 gallons of gas and so on.....
It ain't Rocket Surgery!!
But I also don't think it's worth the trouble.........
Cheers,
Rick
