can I remove these small outdrive rams? are they older mech trim/tilt?

Hi there, working on a 67 (mr?) outdrive and there is a lock switch on the port side with a H looking bracket that supposedly "locks" the outdrive, is this necessary? and can/should I removed it?

Just more bits and pieces in the way, plus there are 2 small rams that dont seem to do much either - the trim/tilt works fine, im assuming this was converted to electric trim at some point?

Ayuh,..... That whole motor, 'n drive has been converted,....... 6 ways to Sunday,.... Who know's what is Necessary,...?....

Need a pic of the shift mechanism and how many lines go to the rams
plus it looks like there backwards too

well the lower rams are connected to hydr lines that work fine, the shorter ones seem to do nothing - like they were for a manual tilt system (like my 89 mariner outboard).. just ram-assist more than anything, plus it has the lever on the side that locks it in position - which interfered with the bellows job I just finished which is why im asking -

For now its all connected as is - may be useful in case the hydraulic ever fails..

the rams are lower/longer rams are connected to hydraulic lines that go to the pump, upper rams have no connections -

i think ill just leave all the junk on there for now, whether working or not - main issues is the manual bracket sits very tight against the forward nut required to drop lower unit- and a real pain to get back on -

The lower rams are backwards. that locking lever is a reverse lock system. There more shock absorbers in nothing elsre
