Can I swap a Merc 2.5 175 sportjet with a Merc 175 Black Max?

Basically just like the title says, is this a viable option?

My old motor threw a rod through the side of the block and I've been searching high and low for another block.

Since I will be reusing all of my factory stuff, would I be able to replace just the block with a Black Max style block and get this thing back on the water?

Thanks all!

Right, just wasn't sure if different models of outboards were the same or not. The motor I've found may be an older motor, haven't been able to get the year of it yet, but I just wanted to check and see if things were changed significantly throughout the years that Merc made these motors.

Like, both the motors are 175 horsepower, but would they both be a 2.5L or would that make a difference?

Thanks for the reply!

Has to be a 2.5 as a 2.4 wont work. The following blocks and years will work...
1997-01 175 carb or EFI( recirc lines are just capped off)
1994-05 200 carb
