can i use a gearbox from one motor to another motor

Okay... i have a 225hp evinrude motor (year 2001) with a gearbox, but the motor broke down, but the gearbox is still good to use. I found a 200hp evinrude motor (year 2001) on auction but the gearbox is busted. I want to know if I can use my gear box on that motor? thanks!

if you are speaking of the throttle and shift controls, yes they should be plug and play.

umm... no... I guess it's not called the gearbox then... it's the gear on the shaft. Is that the gear box? Thnks

If it is the part of the engine with the prop on it it is the lower unit.

The throttle is called a control box or binnacle.

I would think that would work but certainly wait for someone with more knowledge than me, I know alot of years and motors interchange.
