I have a 1992 195 Bayliner with an I/O 3.0 liter engine with out a trolling/kicker for back up emergency/trolling.

I wanted to know if I mount my 9.5 short shaft evenrude as a trolling/kicker on it. I've only seen long shafts mentioned it my forum searches. I have no experience with using this type of set up and am glad to have found this sight full of experienced boaters willing to help!

I've only had 16 foot aluminum deep V's with electric trolling motors while living in Pa.

I have luckily found myself living in Fort Lauderdale area with this new to me Bayliner. I have many new fishing/boating options here.

I can go out into the ocean but a little scared going out without an back up motor.

I also can fish the many canal systems in the everglades and would like to use a smaller motor.

Thank you all for shareing your knowledge

You would probably need one of those adjustable mounts for the kicker that would put the AV plate even with the boat bottom to run it, and lift it out of the water when not in use. Seems to me that would present a challenge steering the kicker.

Some creative engineering would be needed, but it would not be impossible.
