Started a post a while back on my rebuild, but have failed to keep it up. Sorry. Mostly due to not having a digital camera until just recently. But anyway. I need to get the boat off of the trailer. I have a two post lift that is capable of lifting the boat, but wasn't sure about lifting it from the bottom. I also read in another post "Another way to do it is with a gantry crane to lift the bow, or the whole boat if you so happen to have one. I use one for smaller boats, on the small aluminum boats I can sling and lift the whole boat with two chain lifts with a belly strap sling under the boat. " My boat is 17 1/2 feet long and has a 305 sitting in the back of it!!
Would the tie down eyes on the back of the boat hold the weight if I hooked to them? Or can I wrap a sling under the front and back and lift it off? I am concerned about the slings putting to much pressure on the sides of the boat and colapsing the fiberglass. It might be possible to lift it from the bottom, but not sure if the arms on the lift will go that far apart.
I know removing boats from trailers has been discussed here before and I searched for a while, so I appoligize ahead of time if I didn't look long enough to find an answer to a question that has already been asked. In my defense my connection is really slow. I am not lucky enough to have DSL.
Thanks.
