Can interior trim hoses be changed w/o pulling block?

Is it possible to replace the power trim/tilt hoses inside the boat without pulling the motor? I have not had any luck seeing where they attach to the sterndrive unit, but I assume they attach below the driveshaft to the inside of the transom plate. I also assume if I had long enough arms, I could remove them with an open-end wrench. Is this correct?

Sorry, The sterndrive is a 4.3LX V-6 Mercruiser/Alpha 1 Gen I.

Chris, remove the anode underneath the gimbal hsg, the drop the connector and 4 hose down (might be easier to remove the 4 hoses first) then you can remove the broken hose from the connector, remove the other end, tie a string on it and carefully fish it through the gimbal hsg. O what a deal--Bob

I worked on mine and came up with a similar result. This is VERY tight where the lines are run. Enlist the aid of your neighborhood midget and you should be able to get this done.

Thanks Bob, You have jogged my memory, and I found some pictures of the outdrive transom plate, which showed the fitting is removed from the outside. I will need to remove the MerCathod as well. What are the odds the nuts will come off, without breaking?
