I was going to buy the generic tc-90 gear lube as I usually do but I decided to go with "MERCURY MARINE Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube" instead.

then I get home and i read the description that it was for sterndrives and jetdrives. Reading some ads on the internet also imply it could be used as added protection for outboard drives.

As my sig says, I have a 1990 135hp V6 2-stroke outboard.

Can i use this gear lube in my lower unit or am I better off getting the tc-90?

yes you can use it, it is a very good lube. BUT, make sure you get ALL of the previous oil out first. HI-perf. is a synthetic gear lube and does not play very nice with the dino stuff. just let it set there and drain a while so it all has a chance to come out.

It is one of the finest oils you can use.

Actually, High-perf is the preferred lube for your engine.
