I have a 1974 (i think) 20 hp Mercury Thunderbolt serial number 4020581.

My question is, does this motor has the ability to charge a battery, or at least run the depth finder or radio? It does not have a starter, but has the bracket and all to do so. It also has the rubber port to the left of the choke nob directly in front of the switch box. If there is a way to get this motor to charge a battery or run some accessories, please let me know!!

Thanks all!

Aldo, there is no room under the flywheel with the 2 earliest CD stators for alternator windings so the electric start kit would start the engine but would not charge the battery.
