Just my two cents. We had a cracked block and bought a rebuilt engine. My BF knows an awful lot about boats, cars, etc. and he never mentioned anything else. My opinion would be that you are putting a band aid over it and it will only put off the inevitable and possibly risk more damage.

Agree...the epoxy fix never lasts and will not be of any help for internal cracks..
It will leak again...just a matter of time.

The 3L is prone to cracking along the port side under the manifold. It often cracks externally without cracking internally. I suspect a lot of these cracks are not even freeze related. It seems to be a weak area in the casting.

If that describes the way yours is cracked, then I would give the epoxy repair a go.
BUT, If you have water in the oil, due to hard freeze cracking and lack of winterization, then no , forget it- your engine is done - scrap iron

If you are going the patch route grind the area to be patched.Try to grind a slight V into the crack.A dremel tool works well for this.At each end of the crack take a sharp drill bit and and slightly drill into the metal.
Wipe it all clean with acetone or alcohol. Apply JB Weld.Let cure for at least 2 days...;)
