can someone tell me what this is?????

ok so i have a 1968 Johnson "Super sea-horse" Electramatic 40hp. Model #RK28B
Any way can some one tell me what this thing is it has a brown wire coming off it which goes to the round thing (please tell me what the round thing is)
and the thing with the brown wire seems to me bolted close to the fly wheel in the picture i have unbolted it? HELP

This is where the wire attaches to .....?

IN this picture i am holding the unbolted (thing)

Please help me find out what the brown wire thing is
and also the round thing with the red wire and black tube coming out from it.

2nd picture is a cut out switch, should stop engine from over reving.
3rd picture is a safty switch, sould keep engine from starting in gear.

can you tell me how many wires go to the 2nd picture and which wires go to it?

Safety switch connects to cut-out switch and grounds (via the bracket) to the powerhead.
