If the boat is in the water(mid season check) and I want to make sure there are no leaky bellows. What can I do to check the bellows? I don't want rusted u-joints and bearings.

Re: Can you check bellows midseaon?

If water is coming in around the shaft going into the coupler, you can bet there is water in the bellows. Milky gear lube in the drive lube reservoir would also be an indication of problems, water in the drive from somewhere.
Short of that, pulling the drive is about the only way of knowing for sure.

It would also help if you put your Engine Make, model, and year, along with type of drive, in your signature. Then we don't have to guess as to what you have.

Thanks Don. It's hard to see the shaft.(not much room) I will check and keep my eye on things. I think I set my signature

i don't know about a b3.
but my 1 drive gave no indication that i had water gettin into my bellows area, no water leaking into the boat that was visable and the gear lub was only gear lub, no water mixed in...........pulling the drive for end of season maint. reveled rusty ujoints........
