Hello everyone,
I am in serious need. I have spent countless hours with online searching, emails and phone calls trying to find this stern light base and top in very good condition.
The time has come for me to ask others to help me find this lgiht. I love the hunt of finding these classic parts and hope that you will join me in the hunt!
This is the actual light base and globe top from my 64 sportsman runabout. I have seen several boat makes and models with this exact light, so I assume this was a very generic fixture for 60's glass runabouts. There is not a name or even a number stamped on it. It is pot metal but as you can see...the chrome is not in good shape. I have inquired with several shops that deal with pot metal restoration and re-plating. A very expensive route to take. I will only go that route if I cannot find one of these that someone wants to sell. The light base is for telescoping the pole, it is not the plug in style.
So....if you or anyone you know has one of these that is in great shape with no chrome plating needed. Please let me know.
Thanks in advance...
Tim

Re: Can you help me find this stern light?

sorry, i don't know what it is.
fwiw,
my stern light was broke on my boat when i got it too. mine however stated perko on it. so i knew who made it. i searched to no avail in finding a exact replacement too. so, i did the next best thing. got a new perko light. i had to mod the hole in the boat the light mounted over and put the screws in new holes. i covered up most of the sins of the old light. what i didn't cover were two screw holes. i fixed that by putting the screws back in there holes, mounting nothing. it looks ok and ya'd have to know what was there to know i've been messing with it and that the light is not the oem provided light.
good luck in your search..

My base was okay (pretty close to yours), but I couldn't find a globe to fit that old bulb head. I wound up opting for a new one too.

Look for a light dimple in the base. If it has one its an Attwood. Likely a Perko if it doesn't. Follow E-Bay. They come up from time to time. You'll find one if you wait long enough. I got a NOS complete unit very similar to it for $250. (That may be sticker shock, but if you need it you need it....LOL. My NOS bow light cost another $300)

If you can't wait, just have it replated. The replating of my chocks, cleats, oarlocks and bow handle cost about $300. (8 parts) The issue was it took 6 months to get them back.

If all you want is a light, just go buy a new Perko for $29. Just be sure the base is slightly larger, so you cover the holes. If your boat is a showboat, don't put a new model on. You need a correct period model. My first show entry lost enough points for a new stern light that it dropped from 1st place to not even placing at all.
