Re: Volvo penta, blown head gasket?

I'm Having A Problem With Water In The Oil, The Oil Level Rises.
I Drain Some Out Every So Often, And It Looks Like Grey Milk, But Still Oily, Could It Be Gas And Not Water?

When I Drain Some Out (into A Container) And Let It Sit It Separates The Oil Goes To The Top.

After The Boat Sits Overnight The Oil On The Dipstick Is Clean Oil, Any Suggestions On Where To Start Trying To Solve The Problem.

The Engine Is A Volvo Penta 6 Cylinder Aq 170 A, About 1975. Or Earlier.

Is It Ok To Keep Draining And Adding Oil Just To Keep It Running 'til winter?

I Don't Go More Than A Few Miles And Not Fast.
Thanks

no, its not ok. was the boat winterized properly last season? if not, then u prolly have an internally cracked block and that can't be fixed. (trust me, i just went thru it)

No, it's not OK...
It might or might not be a cracked block....
The oil is clean on the dipstick because the water is settling to the bottom of the pan.....
You will need to pressure test your cooling system to find the leak....
I would completly drain the oil & put a new filter on it right away....
