Can anyone give me a ballpark ID on this motor?

It's kind of a complicated situation, but I'm going to have to drive a couple of hours to take a look at it. The seller isn't near the motor either, so he can't give me a model number. It is for sale with no controls and the guy doesn't know whether or not it was an electric shift model.

Thanks.

It is an electric shift, around 1964-ish. With no controls nor the junction box, it is not worth much. The missing stuff is deep-pockets expensive. Shift switch = $400. Voltage regulator = $100. Not to mention the cables and boxes.

Bummer. That means even the lower unit is not compatible with my '63 Big Twin, right?

Right. Unless you swap a load of other parts too.

Shoot.

Out of curiosity, what do the letters in the Johnson model numbers signify? The year 1964 included...

RD-RDL-26
RDS-RDSL-26
RK-RKL-26

Thanks again, F_R.
