hello, first time here. been searching around for some answers, and figured i would give this a try. recently ran into a issue with my boat motor, found it to be getting horrible gas milege and figured it would be good to do a compression check. all cylinders was decent, but one was a 0! crap. took the head off and preignition had occured. i understand that you can just repair the one cylinder only. my questions is that instead of boring out and using a different size pistion. is this type of motor one that can be resleeved so that it stays at factory bore? the cylinder walls took a little beating and will require bore or resleeving. i would feel more comfortable having the sleeve replace, but thats just my thoughts. any one have any suggestions as to what would be a good idea to do? good place to buy sleeves (if it applies)? i will be performing the repairs myself (besides any machining that might be needed) as i cant afford the $2500 + that it would cost have someone do it. just a little info on the motor, its a 1998 mercury 150. carbed.2 stroke. believe its a base model, no xr or anything like that, v cylinder. its on a same year hurricane deck boat. if any one can help please feel free to reply.
