Can you tell me the year of this Yamaha 6hp 2 stroke?

It was recently bestowed upon me and I'd like to buy a manual for it before going over it with a fine toothed comb.

Can you tell me how you know that?

I managed to find a parts supplier that lists the 6SJ for 1986 and no other years so I'm curious how you determined the year. Thanks for helping!

I found this by googling and stumbled upon the search function of their site. But for the life of me, I cannot find this seach function by looking through their menus. Your link takes me to their home page. Where are you going after that?

Click on the link I posted and scroll down, theres a huge table there explaing the model numbering system. The last letter in the model number is the year- yours being a S means a 1994

You dont use the model number, you use the code number.

For example:

o=1990
p=1991
q=1992
r=1993
s=1994
t=1995

ect

Code 6H6 S means:

6= 6 horse
H= Tiller Handle
6= unknown by me

S= 1994
