ive been rigging and working on boats for the better part of 35yrs and was trained many yrs ago actually I think it was when they first hit the market way back when that when you install a water seperator fuel filter you are supp to mount the filter array, tank filter then primer bulb,then to motor, now this got me to thinking with this really bad gas were getting now days the fuel lines and filters are e-10 rated but I have not seen or have a e-10 rated fuel primer ball, what would the problem be if any to mounting the ball before the filter that way if your ball goes south the filter will have a chance to get the crud before it hits you expensive motor filters, has anyone ever run the ball before the water seperator and if so how did it work

I have my primer bulb before my water/fuel separator, mostly because it just seems "right" that way, and when I dump or change my filter canister I can "prime/refill" the canister with the bulb. Your reason regarding ethanol degradation of the bulb being caught by the filter makes a lot of sense too.

well with this new gas we have this might have to be the new configuration I will have to indorse, its much easyer to fill a drained empty racor with it like this and it will catch any debris that comes from a ball gone bad, I dumped my boat in today and drove 15miles to boca grand caught a couple of tarpon and 2 red fish out on the flatts and then went home, about 40miles total and it worked great.

Man, I would have loved to been there for the Tarpon and Red Fish...I need a few days on the water about now. My wife and I do our yearly cruise down the St.Johns River next month, from Welaka to Sanford, maybe catch a few bass along the way. Older I get, the more I miss the river!

yea I have to do the easter egg hunt thing tomm at 10am then its out on the water, the nice thing is the egg hunt is right next to the boat ramp hahahaha lucki me but not so lucky for the trout, I had a buddy went out yesterday and was slaying the gator trout big 5lb trout, cant wait I think ill go load up the boat now so im not late for the egg hunt
