Can one use regular Parker hydralic hose in plumbing the bilage and drains in a boat? Or is there some spec these hoses need to meet? I'm not talking the fuel line or vents. Just everything else. I have not fresh water supply on the boat so no isues there with food grade standards.

Is it a matter of cast that theboat builders don't?

Don't know why you couldn't use a hydraulic line.

Hydraulic hose would work but might be overkill/expensive for a drain, maybe check Home Depot for a variety of clear plastic hoses that would be very water, oil and fuel resistant and you can see what's flowing through them! Good Luck!

I can probaly get hydralic hose free from work. That is why I was asking. I could always buy something else, but free always sounds soo much better!

I'd say as long as it's OK for automotive coolant and is gas/oil resistant (some of that always gets into the bilge), should be OK. Got a link to the specs?

I'm using 3/4" ID coolant hose from the auto parts store.

I would only be worried about using Steel braided lines on plastic fittings.

I would assume you have to double clamp it down tight..will it Break the plastic barbs on those fittings ?

And bought the clear nylon reinforced tubing from a cheap suppier. I iked the idea of seeing if it was working. And seeing I am very anal about the workings of my boat I will keep a close eye on them for cracking and stuff. So Now need to order fittings for the ones I broke.
