Am newbie at boat repair (not with car repair) and am trying to rebuild Mercruiser 4.3L 2bbl carb. Got the kit, but cannot remove brass jets. Even tried small impact tool. Any suggestions? They aren't left-handed are they?

THanks,
jeff

First of all welcome to iboats :welcome: always good to have another boater aboard...

I feel your pain. I too had a similar situation with a Johnson OB carb. I used every tool I could think of and that high speed jet would not budge. So I ended up actually drilling out the jet and using an easy-out to torque it out. Of course that destroyed the jet and I had to order another replacement jet. BUT, I solved that issue for future situations. I took an old screw driver that fit the jet hole size and reformed it just for jet installation and removal tool now and in the future. Problem solved. You could either buy such a jet tool or make one yourself. They do sell them...

Thanks for the reply. I did modify a large screwdriver so it would fit properly. I was being very cautious trying not to screw up the jet. Sounds like it is just stuck.

Thanks again.
Jeff
