I have a trim/tilt motor that needs replacing on a 88 225hp evinrude. I have the motor but can't budge the pin that holds the ram lifter in place. i have tried kroil and heated it but it won't budge. Any suggestions- can it be replaced without removing the pin?

Re: can't budge trim tilt assembly pin

You could take the pivot pin out (lower thrust rod). Use some PB blaster, some heat, a good punch, and a 12 pack of Budweiser. Dont mushroom the head of the pivot pin if you can help it.

Sometimes those tilt pins are hard as hell to get a clean wack on with the hammer. I had to replace the trim motor on mine as well and gave up on the tilt pin. Instead I knocked out the pivot pin.
