Cant Find Model/serial number

Recently aquired a Johnson Javelin boat motor. I trying to get a repair manuel for it but I can not find any tag or any number anywhere on the thing. the cover looks like its from the 50's and its missing the numbers on the cover that say the HP. I have spent about an hour looking for any model/serial number with no luck. Where do I look?

Found this number 304768 but I think it's just a part number.

Yeah it looks like that 57' the metal cover is blue though. I will post some pic tonight. Does anyone know where excatly the put these numbers on this motor? Was it on a tag or stamped on?
