I have a 27 foot rinker fiesta vee 277 come with a 5.7 engine and bravo 3 drive, at home it runs fines, i can push it over 4000 rpm and no problems, in the water, and low speed it runs fine, when i start accelarating it, i hear a beep, like a warning beep.. i looked on the book and it says that this beep is because its low in gear lube for the drive, high temp, or low preasure. My boat runs at about 170, presure is very high, and gear lube reservoir is full...

Now where it gets interesting is that once i pass the 8-10 mph the noise stop i can go up to 40 mph with no noise, if i slow down to around 8-10 the beeping code come back on... :S

Re: Cant find the problem

Is there something written somewhere that says "NEVER Give the year of your engine" better yet would be the Serial number of your engine. Then we could figure out what you have and if it's carbed, or EFI what ignition system it has, etc..

:( not sure where the serial number is on it... But yes it is a carburated engine. The boat is 1997, the engine was replaced and its either '99 or 2000

Re: Cant find the problem

97 carbed is close enough for this problem, thanks.

There are alarm switches that control the alarm buzzer, and are not the same as the senders for the gauges.
Disconnect the switches (tan wire, with a blue stripe) one at a time until you find out which one is causing the alarm.

and once i find which wire it is?? how do i trace what the problem is?? is it safe to run the boat?

and are this switches behind the wheel or on the engine it self?

Re: Cant find the problem

When you find the switch, disconnect the wire and see if the alarm stops. If the alarm stops, you need a new switch.

These switches are for the alarm only, and you have to run the engine to get the alarm to come on. Then while the alarm is sounding, disconnect the switch and see if the alarm stops.

Re: Cant find the problem

Im kinda confused with your solution...

1) why does the alarm only sound when the boat is in the water??
2) the alarm switches that you talk about where are they located?? behind the steering wheel?
3) Does the alarm on my boat only sound when the is low oil preasure, temperature, missing gear lube... or there is another reason for the alarm to go off???

1) why does the alarm only sound when the boat is in the water??
May be because the engine needs to be under load. Since we don't know what the problem is yet, it's really hard to say why it's doing it only in the water.

2) the alarm switches that you talk about where are they located?? behind the steering wheel?
They are on the engine. They look like your sending units for the gauge, only smaller. Temp switches is usually near the thermostat housing or at least the front of the manifold. Oil pressure is either near the distributor, or down above the block filter housing boss. Gear lube is in the bottom of the gear lube reservoir. All of them have a tan wire with a blue stripe to it.

3) Does the alarm on my boat only sound when the is low oil preasure, temperature, missing gear lube... or there is another reason for the alarm to go off???
Yes,

Don't see how the high oil pressure could be the problem.

Re: Cant find the problem

Also very important... I installed a high performance oil pump in my boat.. The preasure goes higher than 80 (my gauge only goes up to 80).. Not sure if they could be the problem

Re: Cant find the problem

Thought I answered that.

gotcha, so its either high temp (which are about 180-190) or the gear lube sensor...

Since it only happens in the water... im thiking its the temp since because it is under load it would heat up.. but temps look normal :(

If you have a raw water cooled engine, 180 to 190 is too hot.

Re: Cant find the problem

I went out and ran it for about 10 min, in about 1000 rpm to verify this, and actually the highest it goes it 160, but it doesnt beep outside of the water. Also also remember that if i go faster than 10 mph the alarm stops.. :(
