Here's the story... got engine (20HP blue band 2 cil 2 stroke), used it a few days, became more of a trouble to start, and sometimes 1 cylinder would die off until it totally stopped working and backfired (pulling cord back in) and shooting water up out of exhaust... finally got the courage to take it to bits, discovered both coils were cracked, so got new coils, sparkplugs, leads.... 2 healthy sparks now.. and now (after sitting with no sparkplugs in a shed for about 3 months) with no petrol/oil in it... i cant get it to start! first of all pulling the starter handle was REALLY tough, (no lubrication) and is now getting closer to normal (I used engine cleaner to rinse out some carbon deposit..)

All i can get it to do is a backfire through exhaust once in about 3-5 pulls....and i managed to get 2 fires from cylinder #2 after eachother (with #1 disconnected) got some easy start stuff, same result... nice spark, the coils are on the right cylinders... and i *think* there is fuel getting into the cylinder.. it smells of petrol, but is not really soaking wet.

Had the carb to bits, needles are fine, butterfly valves are fine.. pump diaphram appears okay

Anybody else had this problem? the carb is set 1½ a turn back (the mixture) like the manual says.. had anyone experienced something like this? please give me some advice.

Thanks
Daniel.
