Have a 1994 40 Hp Mercury Force outboard. Engine is all the way down and can not trim it up to pull for the winter. Don't even hear the hydraulic hum when I engage the trim up. Do not see any indication that engine has a manual switch to lift engine up.

If your not hearing the trim motor hum with pressing up or down, then check the fuse

If you can't fix it now and just need to get the boat out, can you disconnect the ram(s) and tie the motor up temporarily?
I know this can be done with my Alpha stern drive.

The trim motor only hums when the tilt is engaged in down, it does not hum when I try to lift up. Is there a fuse for up and down or just one fuse.

There is just one fuse
Since it does not hum when going up find the relay with the Blue/White wire. Remove the relay and jump from the Red to the Blue. Doing this applies power from the battery to the motor.

If you need to get it out quick before messing with the system...just crack open the vent screw on the side of the pump. There is usually a hole in the casting on side to allow access with a screw driver. This releases the hydraulics and will allow you to pull it up by hand. Will be heavy at first, but it will go.
