cant get idel lower than 900rpm

ive set the timing this weekend. got wot 18% btdc. and set idel timing 6% atdc. as the manual says. also done the link and sink. runs great starts up great. runs the best it has sence ive had it. the only thing it wont idel no lower that 900rpm in gear. the timing is set. the carb plates are closed all the way. the cam pickup is set. not sure what else to adjust to get it to 750rpm and the timing set to. wouldnt worrie about it but i do lot of trolling when im fishing, 1990 200 gt model #vj200slese

did you set the idle speed " IN THE WATER, IN GEAR"?

yes it was in water, and in gear, when i done all the adjustments, the idel timing is set at 6% atdc, and the wot is set at 18% btdc, i just cant get it to idel lower than 900rpm, in gear, in water, with the idel timing set at 6%atdc, i done everthing the book said to do, link and sink, the carb plates are closed all the way,

did you let the motor get warm, and out of the quick start mode?

yes it did warm up and was out of quick start,it runs good i just wish it would idel just a little lower, i cant get it any lower, with the idel timing set to the book, not sure what to do to get it lower, has me stumped becase the carb plates are closed and the timing is set,

The 6 degrees is a starting point. Don't worry about where it actually ends up, just set the idle timing to the motor idles down. That's the only way to properly adjust the idle speed.

so it will be ok to set it lower, to get speed down, it wont hurt it, it takes off good now, it dont stall none, miss skip nothing, really runs good, but i do want idel speed lower,what would be safe timing if i lower it,

I find 700rpm still too fast for trolling (150hp on 20' center console)
so I got a 10 hp, they sell drag plates that drop down over the prop too.
