I followed manuals instructions and couldnt get it below 750-800 to idle in gear....
motor is a 1989 120 Johnson looper
.... i had a timing light with me and got the motor to idle around 4 ATDC... seemed like anything below it would idle at same rpms but it would smoke more than it would at 4ATDC....
im trying to get the idle as close as i can to 650-700 so i dont eat my gears.... tashasdaddy any sugestions?
oh btw the carbs are fresh rebuild i checked the spark plugs and i've gapped them to .040 the recirc valves were changed and the Tee check valve.... checked the compression and its 120 on all ccilinders.... WOT is 5850 RPMS
